Partners from "Supermodels on boARd" network have developed and promote 2 innovative Intellectual Outputs (IOs), based upon the commonly identified need for a more effective education towards gender equality. Both tools are in a different complementary ‘shape’:

1) non-formal education method consisted of an educational board game with an Augmented Reality (AR) app;

2) 3 different comics with AR app; ideal as preparation or follow up of the board game, more focused on an individual level, with interaction possibilities in small groups.

Important features:

The 2 IOs have the same objective to support/accelerate the progress of achieving real equality/equity between genders.

* Both are inter-linked and complementary, but can be used autonomously and separate as well.

* Both qualitatively supported also by a ‘Learning Teaching Training’ blended activity.

* Both accompanied with a manual (with pedagogical and youth work material and peer learning methods - to provide some step-by-step guidelines on how to use specific tools for problem identification and situation analysis, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.)

Project partners are coming from different realities (socially, economically, culturally) but the gender equality aspect is a shared concern and identified need. Gender equality is still far from being a reality in each of our realities, both in rural and urban contexts.

Project activities will increase the social inclusion of young people, especially young girls/ women by promoting Gender equality as one of the key values of European society. Gender norms (or rules) tell us what is appropriate for girls/boys, women/men to do in our society. Because of this, girls and women are often less valued and have lower social status, such as access to education, access to work, equality of salary, etc.  We use a provocative word game to frame the concept of Supermodels as a female role model within present European society.

     S U P E R

       in our project stands for

      Solidarity,

      Unity,

      Participation,

      Empowerment and

      Responsibility.

Inspired and motivated by the priorities of our own structures (and of the EU Youth Strategy), this project brings together young people and professionals in order to design and implement innovative practices that will:

(a) empower ‘marginalised’ youth and

(b) increase the capacity of youth service providers, notably in the areas of integration, equality and inclusion, fight against gender-based violence and discrimination.

The project aims to develop innovative non-formal learning methods on the topics of gender stereotyping and discrimination, using gamification mixed with new-age multimedia, which may take place in an organized context or independently in everyday life.

Objectives:

- To improve understanding of key concepts in the areas of gender discrimination and current use and future capacities of new-age digital media in non-formal and informal learning in Europe through in-depth learner-centered participatory research on methods, tools and practices

- To increase infrastructure and organizational knowledge of partners in the form of strategic alliance and capacity building in the areas of gender and social equality, inclusion and fight against gender discrimination

- To develop interdisciplinary methodology “Supermodels on Board” to support young people with fewer opportunities with new skills/competences in their engagement in civil society at local and European levels, on the topics of gender equality and gender mainstreaming

- To respond to the needs in the youth field on integration challenges faced by youth with fewer opportunities who are affected by gender-based violence and

With the support of the project results, partners will equip professionals and service providers in the youth field and young people with the needed competencies and understanding how to stand up for ‘SUPER models’ in a constructive and more efficient/effective way.

This consortium has a clear focus on the topic of ‘gender equality’, and on bringing new, digital technologies (Augmented Reality = AR) into Non-Formal Education and the Youth sector. Each of the involved partners is bringing in this project their own expertise (board game, comics and online tools), creating a multidisciplinary team.

AUGMENTED REALITY IN EDUCATION

Board game and a comic book with
Augmented Reality apps

Many of our efforts related to this project involve studying new approaches in non-formal education and developing innovative ways to implement them. Till February 2023 we developed, tested, and launched new innovative, interactive and funny tools for education about gender equality. More than equality, we aim for equity.

COMMUNITY ENCOUNTER

Making a difference

We see every challenge as an opportunity. This initiative supports us in ensuring that our communities are better prepared to manage the unique situations they find themselves in. We invest in this innovative approach to create community empowerment opportunities and reinforce connections between young people and a variety of other stakeholders.

RESEARCH

Tackling the Issue

To develop tools that are based on grassroots needs we implemented research that had as a result Field Analyses Paper (FAP)

“Gender Stereotyping and Discrimination vs Gender-Sensitivity in Youth Work”
The aim of the FAP was to analyze gender stereotyping and discrimination in participating countries and in Europe and the approaches used by the youth workers related to gender sensitivity in youth work.
